ACO TO LAUNCH COLLABORATIVE CHALLENGE AT FUTUREBUILD
In an effort to promote the importance of collaboration within the construction industry, ACO Water Management has partnered with a number of industry leaders to launch its inaugural Construction Collaboration Challenge (CC Challenge) at Futurebuild 2020.
With 12 partners already confirmed, ACO is encouraging construction professionals to share best practice examples of collaboration in construction.
Inspired by the Edge’s ‘Collaboration for Change’ report, the CC Challenge was created in response to the siloed nature of the construction industry, which can often see a disconnect between the multiple disciplines involved in the process. Early investment and engagement between stakeholders at all levels is critical to the successful delivery of projects, helping to save time, and ultimately produce the most effective solutions.
Taking collaboration as its central theme, the CC Challenge is open to all construction professionals, ranging from architects, engineers and consultants, through to surveyors, contractors, and project managers. Teams of two or more – which must include professionals from multiple disciplines – can enter projects into one of two categories: ‘sustainable’ or ‘technologically innovative’.
Gemma Burley, Marketing Operations Manager at ACO Water Management commented: “The aim of the CC Challenge is to truly celebrate the achievements of our industry and those who work together. Collaboration is growing in importance, benefiting professionals across industry in their working practice. We can’t wait to receive entries and see how collaboration has impacted projects in the UK.”
Entries must be submitted by 28th August, and will be judged on the degree to which collaboration between team members added value and helped to deliver a construction project of scheme. A shortlist will be released at the start of October, and the winners announced during an online awards ceremony on 30th October.
Gemma Burley concluded: “Futurebuild is the ideal place to launch the CC Challenge, with the event itself a perfect illustration of inter-discipline collaboration. The construction industry relies on close working relationships between professionals from different backgrounds, but it is something that can often be taken for granted.
“By stimulating this conversation and engaging different elements of the construction industry, we hope to inspire a new generation of collaborative-minded professionals.”
